The
volunteers and management of swat youth front reached
Shangla soon after the earthquake initially the donation
from the local communities were distributed amongst the
affected people. Meanwhile Swat Youth Front contacted donors
both national and international to save the lives of the
affectees. Shangla district is one of the most affected
district of N.W.F.P due to the lack of communication
they were not helped. With the efforts of Swat Youth Front
donors diverse to the Shangla. SYF launched emergency
projects with CRS (Catholic Relief Services). CRS is an
international NGO and the partner of the Swat Youth Front.
SYF and CRS Signed an agreement for the period of two months
on emergency basis. They started donations to the affectees
of District Shangla through Swat Youth Front as per
agreement SYF is Implementing partner of CRS for emergency
relief. On the completion of this project CRS and SYF signed
an other agreement for a new project named "CRS Shelter
Project" for the period of three months. |

CRS with the collaboration of
SYF select three union councils named Maira and Kormong of
district Shangla and union council Sakargah from district
Batagram. Which were affected in the earthquake of October
8, 2005. Assessments and survey were conducted by SYF in the
Project areas. Distribution for the identified areas were
started on first priority. Detail of the distributed relief

Catholic
Relief Services (CRS) launched a three months project with
Collaboration of Swat Youth Front (SYF) title “CRS Shelter
Project In District Shangla and Batagram” of N.W.F.P.
Initially three union councils were selected union council
Maira and union council Kormong of district Shangla and
union council Sakargah in District Batagram. Two Union
Councils of district Shangla will be provided Shelter and
One Union Council in district Batagram for provision of
tents. The total Population of the Said union councils are
42502 with the households 4829 most of them are affected in
earthquake October 08, 2005.
Swat Youth Front interviewed and selected
experienced staff for the project. Survey was conducted for
the project area. (Two union councils of district Shangla
and one union council in district Batagram). The joint team
of CRS and SYF visited the area and teams for survey were
deputed. After assessment the registration was completed. In
selected area survey team form forty nine committees with
the consultation of local stakeholders. These committees
helped the team in registration process. 3429 families were
selected for Barrel vault. Two thousands and seven ( 2007)
in union council Maira, 984 in union council Kormong of
district Shangla and 438 for tents in union council Sakargah
district Batagram. 1367 barrel vaults has been
distributed in union council Maira , 285 tents were
distributed in union council Sakargah of district
Batagram. |
